Would you travel less often if you knew it makes bad breath and mouth odor even worse? Well, you should not, and why would you when this problem can be dealt with easily. But yes, your travel can cause unease and problem to co-passengers when your breath stinks. Even if you don’t have an existing bad breath issue, there may be factors at play that can cause this problem in you.

Sudden air changes up in the air coupled with less production of saliva in the mouth and your bad eating habits may cause odour in your breath. You, however, needn’t worry as remedies are there to keep the problem from becoming troublesome.

5 Remedies to deal with Mouth Odor and Bad Breath While Traveling

Here are some remedies to deal with mouth odor problem while traveling

    1. Travel with your toothbrush and toothpaste

While traveling, never rely on the in-flight facility of dental care kit and rather carry your own to stay on the right side of your dental health. So, it’s better to pack your own toothbrush and toothpaste and brush as and when it should feel ideal to you. Not brushing for hours can cause a build-up of bacteria which often make the breath stink. Make sure your toothpaste is high in fluoride as it will help minimize the risk of cavities and tooth decay. You can choose a toothpaste that is effective against bad breath and mouth odor to fight the problem head on.

    2. Don’t forget to floss and clean your tongue

If you’re serious about your oral health or bad breath and mouth odor while traveling, make sure you floss the teeth right before and after the meal. That will help break any build up of food debris, plaque and bacterial, all responsible for causing bad odour to the breath. With travel-friendly and shred-free floss, you will face less hassles and keep your breath rejuvenating. Similarly, don’t forget cleaning your tongue with a scraper or with your toothbrush itself to wash away most of the bad bacteria from the surface. If the tongue is not cleaned daily, it can easily lead to bad breath.

    3. Carry a tongue spray and pocket mouthwash

Carry an oral spray while traveling if you want to keep the problem of bad breath away during the journey. Your oral or tongue spray should be anti-bacteria in nature with ingredients like zinc, thymol, and eucalyptus oil to fight odour-causing bacteria. These products are very effective against keeping bacterial growth in check and they are easy to use as well. Similarly, a good pocket mouthwash will not only be effective against bad breath but can also protect against tooth decay, minimize plaque and give protection against gum diseases. To get the best result, choose only antiseptic mouthwashes.

You must travel with sugar-free chewing gum if you prone to bad breath and mouth odor during travels. Any chewing gum would not do the job, and you should get the one calling xylitol ingredient, which is effective against fighting bad breath. This type of gum helps in two ways – first, by increasing saliva production in the mouth and second, by lowering the spread of bacteria in the oral cavity. You can find plenty of brands selling sugarless gums and pack them on a journey to stay on top of your oral health.

    5. Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated during the travel will help minimize bad breath problem. The water will help wash away food particles, plaque and bacteria to keep your breath fresh. It will also boost saliva production and keep you away from the dry mouth which often causes bad breath. And yes, before embarking on the journey, consult the dentist and know teeth braces price to stay prepared for better dental health.
