Deep vein thrombosis is a life-threatening condition, and head edema increases its risk. The other complications or dangers of heat edema include the following:
- Pain due to swelling or stretched skin.
- Stiffness of the joints.
- Walking difficulties.
- Shortness of breath (pulmonary edema).
- Irritation and inflammation of the skin.
- Skin rashes or sores.
- Chest pain.
- Behavioral changes (cerebral edema).
