The pandemic was a mixed cocktail made up of cabin fever, Zoom fatigue, sleep deprivation, and stress eating. And none of these things are good for your appearance.
One of the biggest issues has been something called lockdown languishing. This is a state of mind where you’re not quite clinically depressed, but you’re still far from Ok. It’s characterized by a constant feeling of apathy. You’re too indifferent to eat well, work out, go to bed at a reasonable time, or stay hydrated.
But the good news is that vaccines are finding arms across the country and we’re slowly getting back to our old lives—or at least the new normal.
If you’re looking to undo some of the damage that the pandemic has done to your appearance, here are a few procedures you might consider.
A Facelift
Despite the many new surgeries and procedures to enter the marketplace over the last few years, the facelift remains the most effective. And it has actually grown in popularity during the pandemic.
“People are locked down and locked up. To make matters worse, they’re being forced to go on these Zoom calls every day, and that’s not helping how they feel,” said Dr. Stephen Mulholland, one of the leading experts on the facelift in Toronto.
“They see their face in that little Zoom window at the bottom of the screen, and they wonder when they started to look so old.”
Zoom and other video calling platforms have had a very real impact on the plastic surgery industry. Some are even calling it The Zoom Boom. In fact, 70% of surveyed plastic surgeons have seen an increase in business during the pandemic, and 69% have reported an increase in facelift procedures.
The facelift is one of the most comprehensive ways to turn back the clock by addressing wrinkles and sagging in the face and jaw area.
A Chin /Neck Lift
Or maybe you’re dealing with a double chin or the so-called turkey neck.
If so, the chin/ neck lift can help you zero in on the jaw and chin area to address any unwanted skin or fat. The surgeon will also carefully tighten the muscles in the area for a more defined jawline.
A Liposuction Procedure
Over 60% of all Americans have gained weight during the pandemic. It has been playfully dubbed The Quarantine 15 by some, but it’s no laughing matter for a lot of people. It’s particularly frustrating for people over 40 that are finding out how hard it can be to lose weight as you age.
If you’re not seeing the results you want from diet or exercise, it could be time to consider a liposuction procedure. It can help you trim the stubborn areas that don’t seem to respond to cardio, like your core, arms, or legs.
If you feel like you’ve aged about a decade in about a year, you’re far from alone. It’s Ok to be upset about it, but don’t beat yourself up. You’re allowed to treat yourself and feel better about yourself.
